The Macys

residential solar panels

The Macys have had solar water heating for their El Dorado home for almost 30 years and decided they were wasting money by not using the sun to provide electricity for the rest of their household needs. In 2008, they became the proud owners of a 3.8 kW SunPower solar system.

For the past year and a half, they have enjoyed generating their own power.

In fact, they were delighted by the performance and happily explained, "Our system is actually producing more kWh than the contract estimated. We purchased a system that covered two-thirds of our previous year's energy use, and yet our first year's entire electric bill was under $50! This year, we're doing even better."

The entire installation experience was quick and easy.

"We were impressed with the install crew; the process was fast and they all seemed to be very well trained in their jobs."

Since purchasing their solar system, the Macys have become even more aware of how much energy they actually need to use. They've made it a habit to use a shorter dishwasher cycle and are now turning off sound system/media equipment or the computer when they're not in use.

The Macys are very proud to be making a difference in their community by promoting both economic and environmental sustainability.
