Golden State Warriors Go Solar At NBA Practice Facility
Oakland, CA November 16, 2009 – In a move unprecedented in professional basketball, The Solar Company has entered into a partnership agreement with the NBA’s Golden State Warriors to install solar panels at the team’s state-of-the-art downtown Oakland practice facility. This agreement marks the first-ever solar installation at an NBA practice facility and enables both organizations to adhere to their long-standing pledge to better the environment. The Warriors and the NBA are active participants in many environmentally-friendly initiatives throughout the year, including NBA Green Week, which will be held later this season and is an annual staple of the league.
Under this unique agreement, The Solar Company plans to install a 164kW solar electric system, with a total of 537 SunPower 305 Watt Modules. The installation is scheduled to begin in December and be completed by mid-January 2010.
