Oakland, CA – November 16, 2009 – In a move unprecedented in professional basketball, The Solar Company has entered into a partnership agreement with the NBA’s Golden State Warriors to install solar panels at the team’s state-of-the-art downtown Oakland practice facility. This agreement marks the first-ever solar installation at an NBA practice facility and enables both organizations to adhere to their long-standing pledge to better the environment. The Warriors and the NBA are active participants in many environmentally-friendly initiatives throughout the year, including NBA Green Week, which will be held later this season and is an annual staple of the league.

Under this unique agreement, The Solar Company plans to install a 164kW solar electric system, with a total of 537 SunPower 305 Watt Modules. The installation is scheduled to begin in December and be completed by mid-January 2010.

“We are honored that The Warriors chose The Solar Company to be the first to install Solar Panels on an NBA practice facility and corporate office”, said Mark Danenhower, Founder and CEO of The Solar Company. “The Warriors are demonstrating how they share our vision to use the power of the sun to help the environment, and also benefit from substantial savings on their electricity bills. I hope this commitment by the Warriors and The Solar Company will encourage all sports franchises, businesses and homeowners to do the right thing, and be able to enjoy significant savings on utilities at the same time.”

“We’re excited about this new agreement with The Solar Company,” said Warriors President Robert Rowell. “We view ourselves as an industry leader in many perspectives and this is certainly another unique element that we’ve added to our business. We’re dedicated to any initiatives and elements that help preserve our environment. The installation of solar panels at our practice facility enables us to stay on that course and is an extremely logical investment.”
